History

• On the 26th of March 1885 the first Bulgarian technical association was instituted in the town of Russe.
• On the 2nd of February 1893 the Bulgarian Engineering -Architectural Association /BIAD/ was instituted in the city of Sofia as in 1937 it was reorganized into Union of the Bulgarian Engineers and Architects /SBIA/.
• On the 27th of March 1949 the Union of the Bulgarian Engineers and Architects and six other technical organizations were incorporated into scientific- technical unions.
• In 1965 two independent organization were differentiated - Scientific -Technical Unions /NTS/ and the Union of the Architects in Bulgaria /SAB/.
• On the 2nd of March 1989 NTS was given a new name - Federation of the Scientific -Technical Associations in Bulgaria /FNTD/.
• On the 22nd of March 1990 the Board of Managers announced 26th of March for official holiday of the organization that should be celebrated as "The Day of Gratitude" to the veterans and organization's history.
• On the 30th of May 1992 at the IXth special congress FNTD was given a new name - Federation of the Scientific -Technical Unions in Bulgaria /FNTS/.
